They have a deep ability to understand their clients’ branding, look and feel and the experience the content requires. Recently, one of their clients wanted a unique and superior user experience for a content library from a completely different provider. While the client needed the content in the catalog to develop the specific skills they sought, they felt the catalog’s interface lacked appeal and definitely missed their company branding. In a first for them, Origin Learning was tasked with overlaying a new user experience onto the content library to make it more impactful for the learners.
The biggest goal was to redesign the learner home page. Bite-sized and video learning had to take center-stage, as the client was pushing a “flow of work” learning environment. By gaining an understanding of the organization’s business goals and the needs of the audience, Origin Learning was able to provide the right kind of UX. They would need to apply this strategy to other pages as well including programs, courses, assessments and blogs among others.
The first step was to identify the technical parameters of the learning catalog — UI, display features, functionality, etc. They then designed the pages based on the layout, interactions and overall look and feel the client company was seeking. They produced wireframe models for a couple of different options, allowing the client to choose the one that made the most sense. Ultimately, the client ended up with a user experience that was far more engaging and intuitive than the one that the catalog had available from “out-of-the-box.”
This example highlights just how critical the user experience is in creating an impactful overall learner experience and that organizations do not need to settle for the status quo.
