Submitted by Andy Kirk, Totara Learning Solutions

Totara Learning Solutions, a leader in innovative learning software, won a coveted Brandon Hall bronze award for excellence in the Best Advance in Learning Management Technology category.  Totara’s win was announced by Brandon Hall on 26 January.

A panel of veteran, independent senior judges evaluated the entries along with Brandon Hall Group’s industry expert analysts and leadership. Totara’s entry encompassed more than product innovation. Totara is delivering a broad-based revolution, in terms of business model, level of innovation, market coverage and global distribution. Totara LMS combines the benefits, of having a low-cost, yet fully-featured LMS along with absolute flexibility to build as many unique extensions, or changes to functionality as the customer may require. The code is 100% open source and with its modular architecture, Totara is designed to have additional custom features unique to a specific client or sector.

Richard Wyles, CEO of Totara Learning Solutions said, “It is very encouraging to receive this recognition in our first year of operation, considering the established players across the global market for cutting edge technologies. It demonstrates how our commercial open source approach has distinct advantages in terms of both the quantity and quality of ideas, as it embraces all users and partners as potential innovators, not just Totara’s own R&D Unit. The results already being delivered worldwide, show a new innovation wave is underway in how learning is delivered and managed in the workplace.”

Said Mike Cooke, CEO of Brandon Hall Group, “2011 provided us with a unique viewpoint of how organizations are driving business results and performance improvement through technology. This was the year in which technology providers and their clients have been able to transform the power of mobile, social, talent, learning, sales and marketing technologies, with proven, validated results.  Most impressive to our judges was an underlying theme around collaborative relationships, a deep understanding of client needs and how technology can be leveraged to create opportunities and operating efficiencies for organizations of all sizes.  I am proud to announce these first-rate solution providers as award winners in the most competitive year yet.”
