2016 Excellence Award-Winning Case Studies

Brandon Hall Group announced its 2016 Excellence Award winners. These case studies, featuring the award-winning organizations, were released for publication:

General Mills Makes Values Resonate with Learning Games

Facing changes in culture and consumer behavior, General Mills revisited its company values to make them resonate better with employees and partners. First, GMI changed the wording of its values to include: “Do the right thing all the time,” “Play to win,” and “Win as a team.” Partnering with Tata Interactive Systems, the General Mills learning team decided to use gamification as a teaching tool. The company started with an online game that takes travelers across a valley filled with challenges they must solve to get to gold. Each employee scores individually and as part of a team. Prizes are won for highest individual score and team score.

Personalizing Learning for Child Advocates Using Next-Gen Platform

Quality Assist Inc., a long-time provider of professional development for child care and Head Start programs, introduced online learning through its Quorum platform in 2013. In 2015, ever-changing market trends and technical requirements encouraged the Quality Assist team to evaluate online learning platforms that could deliver a more engaging, flexible and innovative approach to the increasingly younger, more social and mobile Quorum audience. Quality Assist engaged OnPoint Digital to implement the new online learning platform with integrated ecommerce capabilities, a fully customized, responsive user interface/experience, integrated xAPI capabilities, a Learning Record Store, and the ability to migrate course modules and historical training records of participants.

Generating Client Impact With Experiential Learning at Genpact

Genpact leaders spoke with 100+ clients to understand their key pain points before transforming its training program across sales and capabilities. The goal, generating client impact, meant a cultural shift to turn sales people into consultants who interact with clients to understand their business needs before making a sales pitch. The on-site learning included a simulation exercise using face-to-face meetings with former CEOs or CFOs from Fortune 100 companies who listened to proposals and gave immediate feedback. The learning is continuously reinforced by managers, who participated in training on the importance of coaching and how to do it. The consultative selling approach has helped the company proactively create large, high-impact engagements.

Reaching the PEAK of Learning at Summit L&T

Summit Learning and Technology, a small learning content provider based in Texas, partnered with Xyleme to provide a blended solution that would meet the needs of the modern learners for anywhere-anytime access without sacrificing the accessibility and effectiveness of instructor-led training. Enter PEAK – Professional Education and Academic Knowledge Network, an online learning solution built on a scalable MYSQL database structure. Summit and Xyleme worked together to provide multiple outputs for learners from one source to maximize the learner’s retention and the content ROI, create a seamless experience for both instructors and learners, and empower instructors with tools that remove traditional content delivery and presentation restraints.
