These case studies – winners of 2015 Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards – were released for publication this week:

HP’s Engage: Accelerated Development for Managers

This awards case study features Hewlett-Packard’s effort to accelerate development of high-performing, high-potential managers through Engage, a comprehensive, 10-month learning experience using multiple face-to-face and virtual components. The program provides a heavy emphasis on enabling innovation to fuel HP’s organizational improvement initiative. The program earned a Gold Award for Best Unique or Innovative Leadership & Development Strategy in the 2015 Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards.

Developing Leadership Bench Strength at Blue Shield of California

Blue Shield’s Lead to Excellence (L2X) program is designed to communicate and reinforce direction, to engage and align leaders to commit to a culture of leadership, and raise capability by demonstrating the necessary leadership behaviors and practices required to realize the mission and business objectives. This earned Blue Shield of California a Gold Award for Best Advance in Leadership Development in the 2015 Excellence Awards.

Sales Simulations at Holden

Sales is a process that depends heavily on an individual’s ability to think quickly and react to feedback. When Holden, a private sales training firm based in Chicago, developed its sales simulation tools, it did so in order to help sales professionals practice various interactions in a “safe” environment while driving learning retention. Some of the business outcomes include 3x larger deal sizes, 15% higher win rates, and higher client satisfaction. This earned the company a Gold Award for Best Program for Sales Training and Performance in the 2015 Excellence Awards.

Genpact Uses Gaming to Drive Desired Behaviors

Learning how to lead is often an experience based on trial and error. But this can lead to costly problems for those leading and the others around them. Genpact created the SEAL OpEx game as a way for internal leaders to practice their skills, attitudes, and decision-making within the confines of the program, helping to sharpen their abilities. This program resulted in higher productivity for trained workers in addition to improved leadership behaviors. This earned Genpact a Gold Award for Best Use of Games or Simulations for Learning in the 2015 Excellence Awards.

SAP Demonstrates How to Improve Global Sales Performance

This awards case study features the Challenger Selling Program used by SAP. It’s a coaching program designed to equip sales managers with the capabilities and tools to effectively coach and support their team’s development around the emerging Challenger sales model. The training led to significant growth in win rate, sales revenue and pipeline growth and earned a Gold Award for Best Program for Sales Training and Performance in the 2015 Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards.

KFC Removes Training Barriers with New LMS Interface

This awards case study follows KFC’s initiative to remove barriers to successful training on service mastery by implementing a modern new LMS interface to attract younger workers to the training. The effort earned a Gold Award for Best Advance in Learning Technology Implementation in the 2015 Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards.

India’s Aircel: Driving Sales Performance

This awards case study features India telcomm provider Aircel and its initiative to improve sales performance in its front-line sales reps and middle management. The effort earned a Silver Award for Best Program for Sales Training and Performance in the 2015 Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards.

MetLife GTO’s Workforce Enablement Solutions

This awards case study focuses on the effort by MetLife’s Global Technology & Operations (GTO) unit to address an aging workforce and lack of young technical talent. GTO developed MetLife’s Technical University, which enabled GTO’s business strategy which, in turn, drove the technical talent acquisition strategy. The initiative earned MetLife GTO a Bronze Award for Best Learning Program Supporting a Change Transformation Business Strategy in the 2015 Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards.

Colliers International: Accelerating Success through Leadership Development

This awards case study focuses on global commercial real estate giant Colliers International and its program to transform from a company that promoted top sales people into leadership to one with a comprehensive approach that encompasses a variety of learning modalities, builds bench strength, and focuses on collaborative leadership. The initiative earned a Bronze Award for Best Advance in Leadership Development Strategy in the 2015 Brandon Hall Group Awards.

Chief Executive Officer of Brandon Hall Group Mike Cooke Prior to joining Brandon Hall Group, Mike Cooke was the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of AC Growth. Mike held leadership and executive positions for the majority of his career, at which he was responsible for steering sales and marketing teams to drive results and profitability. His background includes more than 15 years of experience in sales, marketing, management, and operations in the research, consulting, software and technology industries. Mike has extensive experience in sales, marketing and management having worked for several early high-growth emerging businesses and has implemented technology systems to support various critical sales, finance, marketing and client service functions. He is especially skilled in organizing the sales and service strategy to fully support a company's growth strategy. The concept of growth was an absolute to Mike and a motivator in starting AC Growth, in order to help organizations achieve research driven results. Most recently, Mike was the VP and General Manager of Field Operations at Bersin & Associates, a global analyst and consulting services firm focused on all areas of enterprise learning, talent management and talent acquisition. Tasked with leading the company's global expansion, Mike led all sales operations worldwide. During Mike's tenure, the company has grown into a multi-national firm, conducting business in over 45 countries with over 4,500 multi-national organizations. Mike started his career at MicroVideo Learning Systems in 1992, eventually holding a senior management position and leading all corporate sales before founding Dynamic Minds. Mike was CEO and Co-Founder of Dynamic Minds, a custom developer of software programs, working with clients like Goldman Sachs, Prentice Hall, McGraw Hill and Merrill Lynch. Also, Mike worked for Oddcast, a leading provider of customer experience and marketing solutions, where he held a senior management position leading the company into new markets across various industries. Mike also serves on the Advisory Board for Carbon Solutions America, an independent sustainability consulting and carbon management firm that specializes in the design and implementation of greenhouse reduction and sustainability plans as well as managing the generation of carbon and renewal energy and energy efficiency credits. Mike attended University of Phoenix, studying Business Administration and Finance. He has also completed executive training at the Chicago Graduate School of Business in Chicago, IL.
