Deputy Wins Silver Award in 2018 Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards

Auto-Scheduler awarded, responds to labor compliance complexity

ATLANTA — December 17, 2018Deputy, the award-winning workforce management software platform, today announced that it won a coveted Brandon Hall Group silver award for excellence in the Best Advance in Time and Labor Management category. Deputy’s win was announced on December 6th.

“We are honored to be recognized by the Brandon Hall Awards for our dedication to advancing best practices for time and workforce management,” said Deputy’s CEO and Co-Founder Ashik Ahmed. “Deputy is incredibly proud of our Auto-Scheduling feature and how it is empowering an efficient and flexible hourly workforce, allowing businesses to more easily comply with labor laws, and enabling managers to get out of the back office to better serve customers. ”

This award was based on Deputy’s AI-driven Auto-Scheduling feature, which creates optimized worker schedules in a single click. Auto-Scheduling builds the ideal schedule for hourly employees based on data analytics from multiple demand signals likes sales, foot traffic numbers, table reservations and more.

“With 90,000 businesses using Deputy a mountain of data is available to analyze.” Derek Jones, VP Enterprise Solutions mentioned. “One thing that caught our eye is 70% of the staff who are creating schedules are hourly employees and supervisors themselves. The complex web of creating a schedule that meets the business demand but the additional layers of meal and rest breaks, Fair Work Week regulations, overtime, Affordable Care Act, training, & minor guidelines in addition to vacations, class and life schedules are no longer possible to do without technology. We sought to create an Auto-Scheduler that ropes in all of these considerations.”

And while the system is robust and uses Machine Learning and AI, it’s easy to use.

“Ironically, the customers who use this to the fullest never even log in to create the schedule — the forecast runs and creates the schedule at the same time each week, notifying the manager on their smartphone when the schedule is available to review.”

“We’re proud to honor the innovators,” said Rachel Cooke, Chief Operating Officer of Brandon Hall Group and head of the awards program. “As human capital management continues to evolve, the creativity of the award winners is breathtaking. Organizations of all sizes showed that creativity and technology can create new and better work experiences for businesses and their employees.”

“We were blown away by this year entrants,” said Mike Cooke, Chief Executive Officer of Brandon Hall Group. “Our research was confirmed by the participant’s responsiveness to the needs of employers who seek to align technology to the goals of their businesses. Every technology award entry embodied a win-win proposition for employers and employees.”
A panel of veteran, independent senior industry experts and Brandon Hall Group senior analysts and executives evaluated the entries based upon the following criteria:

  • Product: What was the product’s breakthrough innovation?
